“Am I creative?”
The argument that some humans are creative and other humans are not is simply irrelevant. I say this with a passion. It’s a moot point. You can stop asking that question forever, starting now.
You are ALREADY creative.
All of your cells completely regenerate every seven years.
With every breath, your lungs inhale oxygen, move it into your bloodstream, then carry it BACK into your lungs which TURN IT INTO CARBON DIOXIDE and pushes out the waste gas with every exhale.
Oh, and your brain has an average of 6,200 thoughts a day.
That’s 400 thoughts per hour or seven thoughts per minute (and doesn’t even that seem too few)? That’s not even counting the dreams your mind makes while you sleep!
Without any effort at all, your body is regenerating. It’s beautifully sustaining and becoming anew, right now.
When you simply exist in this life, in this body, you are creating.
You might be thinking, “Okay, so I am grateful for my body doing its job. That doesn’t mean I’m actually doing anything creative with my life.”
Allow me to modify what I said above:
When you simply exist in this life, in this body, you are creating. When you simply exist in this life with intention, you are creative.
Your actions lead to interactions, which lead to the next happenstance, which causes a new occurrence that sparks another. These are your “collisions”: things that would not have resulted without your taking action.
That’s creation.
Collisions can be accidental by nature, but they also can generate outcomes in the directions you desire. And that’s where the nuance comes in:
When you add a little intention to your existence, you get to start playing with your outcomes.
It’s like adding super fuel to an old clunker and watching it turn into a sexy racecar (trust me, I know a lot about cars 😂). When you really get into the art of existing, knowing your heart and aligning your actions to it, that, my sweet friend, is creativity in action. You can call it whatever you’d like, in your own language of spirituality and belief systems, but the sentiment remains the same.
The question was never "Am I creative?”
It was and will always be “HOW am I creating?”
I’m going to leave this here for now and let that sink in for a couple of days.
Next, I’ll take it to the next level and look at HOW do we create.
I challenge you to think of ways you’ve been creating lately. Then, click below to read….
I create a safe environment for my kids to come to me when they feel emotionally dysregulated by staying open, quiet, and curious.
